Edit to the headpage[adiht]

Hail,

I saw that you edited the headpage; I believe the only true improvement was the change in word order. I do not see why the site's name ought to be in the plural there, and I think that it should emphasize that the reader himself can edit the site.

Though, I will admit that I am unsure about the vowel length of the first a in adihtan. I believe all OE projects used to mark it as long, but that was changed awhile ago, and so I simply changed it for consistency.

Thanks for taking interest in this project.

"Wikiwordbēc" is correct; however "þū" here is not. Old English did not use "þū" as an impersonal pronoun, it used the pronoun man ("one, you, they"), like Modern German still does. But to emphasise "you" I suppose it makes sense..it sounds very Modern influenced though. Leasnam (talk) 18:07, 19 Se Æfterra Gēola 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I was aware that man is the impersonal pronoun and that þū does not have an impersonal sense, but the way it was written when I got here, I only took it to mean a second-person singular rather than an impersonal, particularly because it was in bold and so I imagined a particular emphasis being placed on the pronoun, which ruled out the possibility of an impersonal sense for me.
If I were to recast it to use man, I do not think I'd have it be in bold.
Thanks for getting back to me after all this time.
